2022 is a Triple Pendulum

PHYSICS EXPLAINS LIFE

This ain’t no Newton’s Cradle

Reflecting on the sheer chaos and random weirdness of the past few years I often fail to find the correct words to capture what we’ve been experiencing. Luckily physics is here to help describe the indescribable.

An ordinary time might find an apt visual metaphor in Newton’s Cradle.

Clack, clack, clack. Newton’s Third Law is not a suggestion. For every action there really IS an equal and opposite reaction.

That means something is in charge. Something solid. Boring AF, maybe, but solid.

At other times our world seems like a pendulum wave. We’re swinging in different directions but there’s a recognizable pattern, a snaky groove, perhaps hard to see while you’re in it, but sinuously beautiful from a distance.

Something is in charge. And it wants to dance.

Then there’s 2022. Humanity is strapped to the Triple Pendulum. Jerky, random, scary, apt to go anywhere at any time.

Look at recent headlines and then check out 1:39 below.

Something is in charge. Something messed up.

If somebody has Newton’s number, could you send him a text or something? Maybe he can tell us how to get off this thing.
