Who is my potential ideal client?

This is so important because you’re going to need to figure out where you can seek out your ideal clients.

How am I going to stand out?

As it’s not completely necessary to be extremely unique to other marketing agencies you are going to want to stand out at least a little bit.

By chance, you already have a marketing education & are confident in your abilities then awesome!

If you don’t have any marketing experience & don’t have prior education in marketing there are a few options on the table.

Even if you went to school for marketing or studied it, it’s always good to work for a marketing agency of some type at least for a little bit.

Not only will this help you understand how to run a marketing agency it will give you more real-time hands-on experience because maybe you really won’t like it.

While there are many free courses on those sites, it’s probably better to spend some money on them, because you are doing it to advance your career.

It definitely beats going into $20,000/yr debt for spending four years in college.

While the websites listed above are very beginner-friendly it’s going to cost you a lot more in monthly fees than if you build a self-hosted wordpress website.

A lot of business owners do this, there’s no shame in it.

While you’re going to be busy doing so many other things, there’s plenty of people who are willing to provide you with this service.

Make sure to read reviews of who you are potentially thinking of hiring, there’s plenty of good web designers & plenty of not-so-good ones.

Ah, the bread and butter of any business, knowing your ideal customer.

You will have to figure out who the clients are that you would like to serve.

This is really the most important thing when it comes to anything marketing-related.

When I worked at a marketing agency we sold a product for a company that we were affiliated with.

You don’t have to use every single metric above but it’s usually better if you do because you will have a more narrow audience & can best serve your clients because you’re serving them on a more specific basis.

Ultimately you’re going to waste a lot of time if you spend time pitching your product or services to people who do not fall into your target audience.

While you’re starting a marketing agency your potential clients are more than likely going to be businesses.

So this is something to keep in mind too because it’s a whole different ball game when you’re defining a business as a target customer.

In my opinion, if you’re working closely with clients it’s a great idea to get referrals basically you just get contact info for every client you close with, chances are they know others who would be happy with your services.

So you must make a plan for your marketing methods, but just know it’s going to have to be diverse at the same time it is possible to be able to use the same marketing plan with every client.

Also, you should charge more or extra for certain types of marketing so this is something to keep in mind as well.

Your pitch phrases should be short something you can verbalize in about 6 seconds or less.

Do some trial and error with these pitch phrases.

The one that works the best keep it & do what you can to make it even better over time.

Calling a Potential Client

Regardless of how you get the phone number of a potential lead, make sure that you are professional when you call.

When you call someone to reach out it’s important to convey a positive attitude.

Make sure to not sound like you’re reading from a script, people can pick up on that & are often standoffish to it.

Also, don’t use the same pitch phrase for e-mail that you use for phone calls.

Not everyone is going to want your services so don’t be disappointed when more people who aren’t interested than are.

Who knows even if they don’t want your services now, they may consider you in the future.

E-mailing a Potential Client

If you’re reaching out via email as you are a professional, this should go without saying but don’t reach out outside of business hours.

Make sure when you send your emails out that it’s during business hours.

If someone doesn’t email you back you can try again, but don’t be too pushy.

LinkedIn

If you are the owner of a marketing agency you’re going to want to have a profile on LinkedIn regardless.

Linkedin is full of professionals & business owners. It would only make sense for this to be a good place to go when you’re looking for new clients.

A lot of people are going to be reaching out to potential clients on LinkedIn so this is something that you’re going to want to stand out when reaching out to people on LinkedIn.

Just remember to be professional & courteous.

You don’t have to go through 5 years of college to start a marketing agency.

Anyone can start a marketing agency, it’s not all that complicated there are just certain grounds you’re going to have to cover.
