Are You Doomed To Be Average Your Whole Life?

Your actions today determine who you’ll be in the future.

I could confidently say that every situation where I’ve met a person, either financial status or employment comes up in the conversation. Which is absolutely fine, until I’m judged off my response.

Up until a week ago I could claim I was a Communications Officer for a highly regarded university, here in Australia. I could also claim that when I’m not working there, I’m either writing or working on my new business.

Now, it’s a little different. I can technically say I’m an entrepreneur but let’s not sugar coat it. I’m unemployed.

Why am I telling you this?

Because when someone tells you they’re unemployed, red flags go up.

I can hear it now.

What a drop kick! What a loser! What does he actually do?

People look at unemployment as a sign of failure and a lack of motivation and so they should. Who wants to be around someone who isn’t doing anything with their life? Even though it’s hypercritical of me, I sure don’t but the problem is that in more cases than not, there’s a lot more to the story.

I’m about to make a lot of employed people very angry, well at least I hope I do.

I know. I know.

I haven’t had a job for a week and I’m already on a high horse but before you judge, remember that while I only just quit my job, I’ve been working relentlessly on my goals for over a year. That means coming home from work to do more work till around 11:30pm, completely giving up weekends and sacrificing any social life I had.

If my social media feeds are anything to go off, that is extremely true. It’s packed with full-time employees, around my age, getting absolutely smashed any chance they get, going on constant holidays and sitting at the beach all weekend.

They’re stuck in the now. They’re stuck in a mindset that between 9:00am and 5:00pm is work time and anything out of that is time…
